The Delhi Government today gave a green signal to reopen cinema halls from October 15. A day after the Home Ministry had granted permission to reopen cinemas, the Delhi Government had made it clear that it will not allow cinemas to start operations on October 15. However, today, the government reversed its initial decision and has allowed theatres to reopen a week from now.

On September 30, the Unlock 5.0 guidelines by the Home Ministry provided a big relief to movie makers and theatre owners as the centre allowed to reopen theatres at 50 % capacity starting October 15. A few days back, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry also released a 24 point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), which is to be strictly followed. 

West Bengal has also reopened cinema halls. Maharashtra Government, on the other hand extended the lockdown till October 31 and said that cinema halls will continue to remain closed.
