The actress, while promoting her anti-Scientology podcast, Scientology: Fair Game, said to the outlet “we might just get somewhere” if people continue putting Tom on blast. According to Remini, the tenets of the Church of Scientology is to be a good person in public but not so much behind closed doors.
She claims the actor has been very inconsistent in terms of his behavior and ethical values. Fans of Remini know she first bailed on the Church of Scientology back in 2013. She says she got into trouble when she asked why the 58-year-old Mission Impossible star was the “poster child” for the organization.
According to Leah, she wondered out loud why Tom was allowed to be the figurehead for the organization considering he had been embroiled in a number of embarrassing controversies and scandals, including when he jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s couch and declared his love for Katie Holmes.
Leah says she quickly learned that it was anathema to talk badly about Tom Cruise because he’s considered as a “messiah” in the Church of Scientology. More importantly, Remini argued, is that Tom hasn’t even seen his own daughter in years, yet he has a public persona as the “super-nice-guy.”
Remini went on to say it was part and parcel of the “bulls**t game” Hollywood plays. Reportedly, the King of Queens star joined the church when she was just 9-years-old. Her mother was also a Scientologist, however, she had to leave when she questioned David Miscavige.
Just a few years later, she released a memoir regarding the church called, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. Fans of Remini know she had made a name for herself as a Scientology detractor, which she has facilitated through the creation of her critically hailed series, Leah Remini: Scientology and The Aftermath.
